This prestigious award pays tribute to MSD's first President, James Tilton, MD, who was a medical pioneer, innovator, and statesperson.
The Tilton Award recognizes medical achievement in Delaware.  

Highlights from MSD Interim Council Meeting
MSD held its 11th Interim Council Meeting at the Smyrna Opera House on Thursday, April 20th. Guests included Marilyn J. Heine, MD, American Medical Association (AMA) Board of Trustees member; AMA Field Representative Joaquin Falcon; and Mr. David Brond, Vice President of Strategy and Planning at Aloysius, Butler and Clark who provided an update on MSD's Strategic Planning initiative. In addition, Kim Gomes of the BrydGomes Group was in attendance. The three resolutions presented were debated by the Council and adopted, with Resolution 02-I2023 adopted with amendments. Adopted Resolution 01-2023 allows for the addition of two physicians to Delaware's Delegation to the AMA, with the Council voting in Cedric Barnes, DO to the AMA Minority Affairs Section and Shalini Shah, MD as the representative to the AMA Private Practice Physician Section. MSD Annual Meeting Wrap Up
MSD provided another successful Annual Meeting schedule of events last week, concluding on Saturday November 5th with the OBVIOUS 5k Run/Walk and Health Fair in the morning at Rockford Park in Wilmington and the Inaugural Reception in the evening at the Smyrna Opera House. MSD has prepared the full report of the business conducted, as well as producing a video to capture the moments from the Council Meeting and Inaugural Reception. Congratulations to the 2023 newly elected officers, the 50-Year Medical Service Awardees, the COVID-19 Honorees, and Distinguished Service, President's, Young Physician, and Special Recognition award recipients!

Receive Unprecedented Grant
Major Investment in Primary Care
Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield of Delaware’s BluePrints for the Community has awarded an initial $1 million grant to the Delaware Medical Education Foundation (DMEF), one of the Medical Society of Delaware's two charitable foundations, establishing a Primary Care Investment Initiative (PCII). “Investing in Delaware’s health workforce has long been a priority of BluePrints for the Community,” said Nick Moriello, President of Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield of Delaware. “We are proud to support the Delaware Medical Education Foundation’s efforts to provide primary care providers with resources to improve sustainability, efficiency and ultimately health outcomes.” Read More.



MSD Serves As Host for SS1 for SB 120 Bill Signing Event
Governor John Carney, Lt. Governor Bethany Hall-Long, Senator Bryan Townsend, Representative David Bentz, Delaware Health and Social Services Secretary Molly Magarik, Insurance Commissioner Trinidad Navarro and others who were instrumental, came to the MSD Building on Friday, October 1st to celebrate the signing of the primary care reform legislation, Senate Substitute 1 for Senate Bill 120Read more. Watch event the video.
