The Medical Society of Delaware is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) as a provider of Continuing Medical Education (CME) for physicians. As an ACCME provider, MSD directly sponsors and jointly sponsors CME activities for physicians, including conferences, symposia, lectures, grand rounds, case review conferences, journal clubs, journal articles, departmental scientific meetings, seminars, and workshops. Physicians attending these activities receive AMA PRA Category 1 Credit.

Hot Topic CME

In 2015 the MSD began delivering responsive, timely mini-lectures on emerging topics with essential medical content most needed by our membership. These presentations represent the next iteration in MSD's growing and evolving education programming for Delaware physicians. This innovative concept provides relevant information through continuing medical education specific to health care in Delaware including in-person CME meetings across the state, and live webinars. These accredited programs allow MSD members to maintain, develop, and/or increase knowledge and skills, both clinical and nonclinical, as well as meet state licensure or other Delaware requirements.

MATE Act Requirements

On December 29, 2022, the Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2023 enacted a new one-time requirement which went into effect on June 27, 2023, for any Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA)-registered practitioner to complete eight hours of training "on the treatment and management of patients with opioid or other substance use disorders." You can satisfy this training requirement to meet the conditions of the MATE Act through courses offered online by the American Medical Association. If you have not met this specific eight-hour training requirement yet, the deadline to do so is the date of a practitioner's next scheduled DEA registration submission.
