28th Annual E.G. Scott Microbiology Symposium VIRTUAL EVENT

https://msdcme.rievent.com/a/SJCGFS Activity is intended for Specialty Physicians (Internal Medicine, Pathology, Microbiology), Pharmacists, Physician Assistants, Nurse Practitioners, and Nurses. Statement of Need Due to the large number of new blood culture methods available, there is a need for up-to-date educational outreach for laboratory management and workers. Critical to any blood culture system is the pre-analytical step of adequate volume collection. AST of multi-drug resistant organisms, such as carbapenem resistant Enterobacterales, have become increasing complex for the laboratory. Introduction of new and novel antibiotics into AST methods is a challenge for many laboratories. Educational Objectives Upon completion of this activity learners should be able to: 1.Compare new assays for rapid identification and susceptibility resting direct from blood culture bottles. 2.Discuss the clinical utility of molecular diagnostics in the clinical microbiology laboratory.
